North American Maple Shells
All Performance Series™ shells are built with DW’s patented HVX™ technique, which features 100% Maple plies with grains oriented in horizontal, vertical, and diagonal patterns for low, punchy fundamentals.
Bearing Edge
HVX™ shells are precision-cut with 45-degree (toms) and 60-degree (bass and snare) edges. These edges provide tonality and sustain from your toms, and depth and punch from your bass and snare.
Shell Sizes
Sizing helps players emphasize or control tonal qualities, while providing a visual aesthetic for musical genres.

This kick drum features an 8-ply shell, quarter lugs, matching Maple hoops, a 60-degree back-cut bearing edge, and TruePitch tuning tension rods. *
